Hello! My name is Poppy and I am the face (and heart) behind Tula Movement.
I decided to delve into the creation of this space after having my own profound experiences with connecting to myself through movement.
During my teen years and early twenties I had a pretty tough time and felt utterly lost. I experienced feelings of deep loneliness that quickly turned to self-hatred and self-destructive behaviour.
Knowing I needed to do something to help myself heal. I decided to start running and quite quickly I went from creeping out in the dark to running marathons. Re-connecting to myself through movement changed my life, it made me feel like I had a purpose and the desire to run better pushed me to start looking after myself properly.
Running allowed my mind to enter a meditative state, it was a spiritual experience for me, a true celebration of what it means to be alive and I began to look for more ways to experience these feelings. Fast forward a few years and here we are - aaaaah yoga.
Yoga; the breath, the fluidity, the accessibility and the encouragement to explore your body for no reason other than because it feels amazing! I fell in love almost instantly. To move your body gently with love, whilst also being challenged both mentally and physically allows me to grow every single day and I can't wait to watch you grow too!
In my yoga classes we're not striving for any particular end goal instead you are given space to be yourself, feel what you need to feel and move in a way that works for you with no expectation or judgement - only exploration.
